Joseph Yobo Quits Super Eagles, Apologises For Own Goal

Captain of the team, Joseph Yobo, said monday that he is quitting the senior national team shortly after crashing out of the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Yobo, who scored an own goal on the day he marked his 100th appearance for Nigeria, said he had done his best in the 13 years he has played for the Super Eagles and that it was time for him to concentrate on club football.

“It is time for me to give other younger players a chance. I have done my best in the 13 years that I have played for Super Eagles.

I want to concentrate on my club football after recovery from injuries that almost ended my career,” said Yobo.

Vincent Enyeama, Osaze Odemwingie and other senior players are also considering their future with Eagles after the defeat at the World Cup.
